japan holiday day 5 / walking in a winter wonderland.

I LOVE KARUIZAWA. This day was such a magical Christmassy day. We’d been crossing our fingers for snow, but unfortunately the weather warmed up just a liiiiittle bit too much! Snow was due on the 24th though, which is nice πŸ™‚ We weren’t there anymore, but I hope Karuizawa did get a white Christmas! πŸ™‚ Anyway, snow or no snow, Karuizawa is this picture-perfect winter wonderland, and being there at Christmas-time just feels like a storybook πŸ™‚

GET READY FOR SO MANY MAGICAL TIMES.

the dream team assembles // days 1-2.

The past week Caleb and Becca have been visiting me! We have been up to many antics and I literally took more than 1000 photos which is a lot.

Day One / 1st DecΒ

I had my last exam on this morning, and Caleb and Becca had already arrived the night before, so I ubered over as soon as I finished to meet them because I was so excited that I couldn’t possibly wait for the train! We have all been staying together at the Pois, which has been a fun time!

Glen was home because he’s actually quite sick, but he made it out of the house to have lunch with us, which was nice πŸ™‚ We went for waffles at Craftsmen Coffee!

oh hey there melaka.

A week and a half ago (the 29th of November, if you were wondering), my flatmates and I took a day trip out to Malacca in Malaysia! We really wanted to go on an adventure together before we all moved out, and going to an adventure in ANOTHER COUNTRY is twice as exciting! It was a really great time and we all felt like we could have stayed for much much longer – it’s such a cool and colourful place πŸ™‚

Crossing over to Malaysia – an exciting part of the 5+ hour bus trip!

On another bus to get to the town centre – almost there!! This bus was very interesting becauseΒ there was no bus driver when we got there. Everyone just got on the bus, and then when the bus was full of people the bus driver arrived and went around the bus collecting change for the tickets, and then we were off!

This is a very interesting, vibrant place – it was colonised and occupied by a variety of nations at different times, and the unique combination of influences on the architecture and surroundings have lead to almost the entirety of Melaka City being named a UNESCO world heritage site.

happy little three monthiversary.

2016-10-23 04.30.21.jpg

This Saturday marked my third month here in Singapore! So, you know what that means… CUPCAKE TIME πŸ˜‰ For my third month celebration I selected a strawberry lemonade cupcake. Glen and I were having a movie time, so I got him a cookies and cream one too (one of his favourite flavours of food; he’s pretty easy to please πŸ˜› ) so that we could celebrate together!!! We munched these while watching Bewitched, which is a fab movie, and totally worthy of a celebration occasion πŸ˜› I can report that this cupcake is extra delicious due to the fact that there is actual berry in the cake itself! Very yum.

more playgrounds: found.

Yesterday I had no classes, and so I took this opportunity to track down some more of Singapore’s heritage playgrounds! I found three more – in MacPherson, Bishan and Ang Mo Kio! Here are some more photos of playgrounds and playground-hunting related adventures πŸ™‚

MacPherson

First stop: MacPherson, to locate another baby dragon playground!

The playground is actually really close to the MRT – but there is so much contruction going on for the extension of the Downtown line that I ended up walking a pretty roundabout route! Which actually was really cool because…

a visit from the parentals.

HIIII sorry, I disappeared for three weeks, but I’m back now! It has been a very busy time – my parents came to visit, and then there were midterms and there were a few stressful preoccupying happenings inbetween! But as of yesterday afternoon (after my last midterm ended), life has resumed a more normal pace, so here I am πŸ™‚ With many adventures to update you on! Here’s what happened while the parents were here in a brief summary form that really can’t quite do justice to the hundreds of photos we took but I’LL TRY πŸ™‚

Day One

how to spend a holiday day.

Today was Hari Raya Haji, the Muslim festival of sacrifice, and also therefore a public holiday! I started the day with a nice long sleep in and then had a very lazy morning/really more like early afternoon, which was very nice πŸ™‚ While I was still in my pyjamas it started bucketing down with rain! Since this morning was VERY VERY warm, I thought it would be quite pleasant to go outside and play πŸ™‚ I tried to convince Glen that he would also find this fun, but he didn’t think he would (how strange!! πŸ˜› ), so he stood in the doorway laughing at me and taking photos instead πŸ˜›

See, very pleasant.
