MY PALS. Sorry for doing a little disappearing act on ya 😉 The past few months have been an intense mish mash of mostly a lot of blurry yuck stuff (but some good stuff happened too, and I’m gonna blog about the nice things soon!) – basically it is very hard to maintain a blog when depression and anxiety are all busy bothering you. The good news is, I am getting really good help now, and I’m on a course of anti-depressants which fiiiiinally (I hope? Fingers crossed and pretty please?) seem to be kicking in, and my lovely family, friends and boyfriend are supporting me through this. Things aren’t quite better yet, but I am hopeful that they are maybe starting to be a little bit better (I’m sitting here writing this blog, aren’t I!) and any steps are good steps! Continue reading
This was the last day of our Japan trip! Our flight back to Singapore was at midnight so we had a full day to fill with whatever we liked. I personally had two things I wanted to do on this day: a) buy a whole lot more stationery, and b) try the hot baked apple drink at Starbucks 😛 (I know, I know, Starbucks is everywhere and all that but Starbucks in other places don’t have hot baked apple drinks and also hot baked apple drinks in winter at Christmas time was just something I had to do!). The rest of the gang also had a few last things they wanted to buy and shops they wanted to see, and so we decided to explore our local area around our hotel and have a look for things!
On the 22nd everybody parted ways – Uncle Mel was meeting a friend for lunch, Auntie Carol and Vera wanted to do some shopping, and Glen and I… went to Disneyland Tokyo!!! We had a magical day; it was really, really great. While the entire holiday was, of course, marvellous, I had been dealing with some really horrible bouts of depression and anxiety on a daily (ugh and nightly 😛 ) basis, and escaping to the world of Disney for a day was just lovely.
Also – Disneyland at Christmas time?! So cool 😊 Here’s a lil preview of what the night time looked like hehe CAUSE I’M TOO EXCITED TO WAIT UNTIL THE END OF THIS POST 😛
It’s time to say bye to Karuizawa and catch the train back to Tokyo!
Before we go, here’s the view from our window in Karuizawa:
We went back to the crazy outlet area near the train station before we left, and did a bit more shopping, and took a few more photos of our beautiful surroundings! Continue reading
I LOVE KARUIZAWA. This day was such a magical Christmassy day. We’d been crossing our fingers for snow, but unfortunately the weather warmed up just a liiiiittle bit too much! Snow was due on the 24th though, which is nice 🙂 We weren’t there anymore, but I hope Karuizawa did get a white Christmas! 🙂 Anyway, snow or no snow, Karuizawa is this picture-perfect winter wonderland, and being there at Christmas-time just feels like a storybook 🙂
GET READY FOR SO MANY MAGICAL TIMES.
Here comes the crazy part… Continue reading
Today we’re off to spend a couple of days in Karuizawa, a small town north of Tokyo, in the Nagano province! It is a WINTER WONDERLAND and I am VERY EXCITED.
First up, before we go, here’s a day time view from our hotel window in Tokyo!
The running themes of today were looking at some crazy streets and eating a lot of noodles 😛 We went out to Shibuya for food and shopping (the over-arching themes of the holiday 😉 )!
FIRST STOP, RAMEN. Continue reading
WE’RE IN TOKYO!
I am on holiday with Glen and his family for the next week in Japan! It is all very exciting. We are here until Christmas Eve, which is pretty crazy! I’ve never had a winter Christmas before (or build up to Christmas anyway 😛 ), and our chances of getting snow are looking pretty high which is WILD. Fingers crossed 🙂
Day Seven / 7th Dec
Let the shopping adventures begin!
We started the day with lunch in Tiong Bahru (I LOVE TIONG BAHRU 🙂 ) at a really cool cafe called Forty Hands! I hadn’t tried this one yet, but I’ve heard lots about it and it lived up to its reputation 🙂
Day Six / 6th Dec
SENTOSA HERE WE COME 🙂
Sentosa Island is a place I had not really been to – not properly anyway – the only time I had been there was when Glen and I went to that wedding, but since we just drove straight to the hotel and it was nighttime I don’t think it properly counts!
Sentosa has MANY things to do, way more than you could see in one day! We spent our day at Universal Studios, which is SO GOOD, and you can definitely spend a whole day there!!
We set off early and made our way over!
We’re hereeee! Universal Studios Singapore has 6 zones which are themed with a truly beautiful attention to detail: LA, New York, Sci Fi City, Ancient Egypt, Jurassic Park and Madagascar. All of the zones were cool, but the coolest thing was that it was like each of us had our own personal zone!
Sarah’s house: New York
New York is my house because it has Sesame Street AND all the retro-ness!!!!!!! I was so excited I couldn’t stand still 🙂
